| Matthew E. Fewel, M.D.Dr. Fewel grew up in Bellevue, Washington and attended the University of Washington graduating magna cum laude with a B.A. in business administration in 1990. He spent several years in the computer industry prior to receiving his Doctor of Medicine with Highest Distinction from the University of Southern California in 1998. Dr. Fewel received the AMA-ERF Achievement Award at USC as the top medical student in the clinical years. He then completed a 7-year neurosurgical residency at the University of Michigan, one of the premiere training programs in the country. In 2003, Dr. Fewel received the Resident Award for Outstanding Research from the Michigan Association of Neurological Surgeons for his work on brain tumor research. After completion of his neurosurgical training, he established his private practice in Richland, Washington and performs surgery at Kadlec Medical Center. Dr. Fewel is a published author in several neurosurgical texts and peer-reviewed neurosurgical journals. Dr. Fewel is married to Misty and has 3 children (Hannah, Ben, and Carter). Utilizing the latest technologies and techniques, Dr. Fewel brings state-of-the-art neurosurgical care to southeast Washington and the surrounding communities. Computer-assisted stereotactic brain tumor resections and biopsies, minimally-invasive spinal fusions and decompressions, microdiscectomies, “incision-less” transnasal transsphenoidal surgery for pituitary tumors, and kyphoplasties for compression fractures are just some of the advances offered by Dr. Fewel. |
